Win 7 by default parks your cores if they're not used, this often causes fps loss in games for me, especially in CPU intensive games like Guild Wars 2.. in Battlefield 4 i went from 50 fps on high to a stable 60 fps on ultra even with my machine!

After unparking cores on my old Core 2 Quad I am getting much better performance. Individual mileage may vary.
